In our area flows the Chiese River, a natural environment ideal for the presence of certain snake species, particularly the common European adder (Vipera berus).
This viper differs from the asp viper in its behavior: while the asp is very fast and tends to flee quickly when encountering humans, the Vipera berus is slower and tends to wait and attack if it feels threatened.
To maintain a natural balance and respect the local ecosystem, we have chosen to adopt an ancient but effective method to control the presence of these dangerous reptiles: keeping turkeys on our farm.
Turkeys are formidable animals in the fight against snakes. When shouted at, they respond with distinctive calls and are capable of detecting and hunting vipers and other snakes.
Their presence helps us protect the work environment and ensure safe coexistence with nature without resorting to invasive or harmful methods.
Thanks to this balance, we can responsibly manage coexistence with these animals, preserving both local biodiversity and the safety of the people living and working in the area.
